Description:

The first high performance consortium in Oregon, NWHPEC represents a cross-section of Oregon and SW Washington businesses interested in the sharing and dissemination of information regarding best practices. NWHPEC provides a forum for exchanging information about ways to develop, implement and improve manufacturing practices and processes. NWHPEC facilitates education and information exchange by:

  1. developing and updating benchmarks of best practices both within NWHPEC and externally and
  2. holding educational events open to members and nonmembers, during which attendees can share experiences in meeting such benchmarks and learn how to improve business practices and processes.
Through these efforts, NWHPEC seeks to create a community of enterprises that help each other compete and win against the world's best.

Oregon Bio, in partnership with Worksystems Inc. and WorkSource Oregon, has developed BioPro, a comprehensive workforce training program. BioPro is targeted at the workforce development needs of companies and research institutions in biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostic tools and related technologies. The goal of BioPro is to raise the knowledge and efficiency of our local and regional bioscience workforce, thereby improving the competitiveness of our industry.

A more highly-skilled bioscience workforce makes a positive impact on company operations and competitiveness. While enriching the Oregon workforce in general, BioPro training also improves employee recruitment, strengthens managerial capacity, grows economic development capacity, and increases production output and grows wages. Both Oregon Bio member and non-member companies are eligible to participate in the training, including Lean Principles, 5S and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
