Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAA) is U.S. Department of Commerce program that provides matching funds to help import-impacted manufacturers strengthen their operations and sharpen their competitiveness. TAA offers 50/50 cost sharing for consultants, engineers, designers or industry experts for improvement projects in areas such as manufacturing, engineering, marketing, information technology and quality. Participating companies pay only 50% of the costs for a project, but enjoy 100% of the results. This allows companies to expedite improvement strategies that would otherwise be delayed due to cost. It frees resources for expenses like capital equipment. And it offers cash flow advantages because a firm is responsible for only half of the project costs, while TAA pays the remainder.
