Description:
The SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs are two federal government programs designed to stimulate technological innovation and provide opportunities for small business. Administered by the Office of Technology within the Small Business Administration (SBA), these two competitive programs ensure the nation’s small, high-tech, innovative businesses are a significant part of the federal government’s research and development efforts. Eleven federal departments participate in the SBIR program; five departments participate in the STTR program awarding $2 billion to small high-tech businesses.
