Description:
The Mid-Willamette Metals Consortium exists to promote the needs of the metals industry for a more highly skilled workforce. Consortium members work together with public sector partners to: increase the skills of the current and future workforce; raise the profile of the industry at the local and state level; increase awareness of the resources available; and advocate for policies and reforms that will benefit manufacturing. The membership is open to metals manufacturers, metals vendors and public entities operating in the Mid-Willamette Valley. The steering committee meets monthly and the membership meets every other month. The 2007-08 goals of the Consortium are to: work with the K-12 system to help fill the workforce pipeline through public relations, site tours, internships, and information; and work with the Enterprise to locate individuals (ages 17-25) who do not have a career focus to guide them toward manufacturing.
